Major Features of Amgen’s Corporate Compliance Program
The major features of Amgen's Corporate Compliance Program include:
Maintaining written Corporate Compliance policies and supporting documentation designed to promote business integrity and compliant behavior among Amgen staff and others who perform work on Amgen’s behalf, including temporary workers, consultants, and contractors
Assigning compliance governance and oversight to a Committee of the Board of Directors;
Assigning daily operational responsibility for the Corporate Compliance Program to the Chief Compliance Officer who reports to the Committee of the Board of Directors;
Requiring that the selection process for new staff members or contractors includes appropriate background checks to minimize the likelihood that they will engage in illegal activities when performing tasks on Amgen’s behalf;
Communicating Amgen’s Corporate Compliance Program requirements to all staff members;
Providing ongoing training and education to all employees in all aspects of Corporate Compliance;
Maintaining and promoting Amgen’s Business Conduct Hotline through which anyone, internal or external to Amgen, can anonymously report misconduct without fear of retribution or retaliation;
Encouraging staff to contact the Ombudsperson regarding any work-related concerns, including ethical, legal or other issues related to the way Amgen conducts its business;
Conducting timely and appropriate investigations into reported concerns about compliance violations; and
Responding appropriately to any violations of compliance that are detected, and taking appropriate steps to prevent recurrence.
