Amgen’s 2012 Environmental
Sustainability Report
Our 2012 Environmental Sustainability Report announces that we have achieved all of our six 2012 environmental targets that we set in 2008—in energy and carbon dioxide, water, waste reduction and recycling, and fuel efficiency. We also introduce the elements of our new Environmental Sustainability Plan for 2020, that includes new targets.
From 2008 to 2012 we realized more than $24 million in cost savings by implementing sustainability initiatives across the many complex activities we undertake to bring medicines to patients. Our innovative staff members contributed to our efforts, participating in internal programs and initiatives and serving as environmental volunteers in local communities where Amgen operates. The report also highlights Amgen’s environmental sustainability plan governance as well as efforts in staff safety and wellness.
Amgen reports in alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3.1 guidelines.
