Ethical Research

Clinical Trials Information and Results
Amgentrials.com offers patients, investigators and the public easily accessible information about Amgen-sponsored clinical trials, including enrollment information for actively recruiting studies and results summaries for completed ones.

Global Code of Ethics for Clinical Trials
Amgen is committed to protecting the rights of clinical trial participants worldwide.

Policy on the Support of U.S. Clinical Practice and Treatment Guidelines
Amgen occasionally offers financial support to independent bodies who develop clinical and treatment guidelines.  Amgen does not exert any influence or control over the development of guidelines that it has funded.

Adverse Event Reporting
An Adverse Event (or Adverse Experience, or “AE”), is any untoward medical occurrence in a patient or clinical investigation subject administered a pharmaceutical product and which does not necessarily have to have a causal relationship with the treatment.  Amgen staff are required to report AEs within one business day of learning of the AE.

R&D Activities with External Parties
All Amgen sponsored, funded, or otherwise supported research activities with external parties are designed to fill a legitimate research need and it is prohibited to influence or encourage purchase, prescription, placement or sale of Amgen products.

R&D Gifts Policy
Amgen staff and their representatives in Global Research and Development organization are not permitted to provide gifts of any nature to healthcare professionals and/or members of the scientific community.

Commitment to the Ethical Use of Animals in Research
Most regulating bodies, including the FDA, require that potential medicines be thoroughly tested in animals prior to human testing.  In our research, Amgen seeks to eliminate or reduce impact to animals, to provide high quality care to laboratory animals, and to use alternatives to animal research whenever possible.

Amgen Guidelines for Publications
Amgen is committed to the highest scientific and ethical standards for publications and is dedicated to providing scientifically accurate, fair, and well-balanced publications to the scientific community.

Amgen Statement on Compendia
Amgen periodically monitors the information contained in CMS-Recognized Compendia and submits corrections or updates as necessary.
