Janine Bennett
Brighton High School
Brighton, Colorado

Even in the relatively short span of four years, Janine Bennett has made a major impact on students in her teaching career. A teacher at Brighton High School in Brighton, Colo., Ms. Bennett combines a background in science, top-notch planning skills and a well-respected rapport with students. But she feels the impact she has on her students is her biggest accomplishment. "The real rewards in teaching are making a difference in people's lives," she said. "And knowledge isn't worth knowing if you don't share it with others."

Pamela Sanders
Superior Elementary School
Superior, Colorado

An instructor at Superior Elementary School in Superior, Colo., Pamela Sanders has dedicated the last eight years to expanding the role of science at her school. By consulting a diverse group of fellow teachers and scientists, Ms. Sanders has helped developed science curricula in her district while supporting science fairs and other programs. Seeing the impact of her hard work on students serves as her constant inspiration. "I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference," she said. "I became a better teacher when I saw that I did."
