Statement on ENBREL Support™ Program

Amgen and Wyeth announce ENBREL Support™ Program

Amgen and Wyeth remain committed to helping to provide clinically appropriate patients access to Enbrel® (etanercept), despite tough economic times. Once physicians and their patients have determined that ENBREL is the right treatment choice, patients may benefit from the ENBREL Support™ program, which offers financial support to eligible patients in several ways, depending on their specific situation:

  • Commercially insured -- for all eligible patients*, the new ENBREL Support™ co-pay program may offer:
    • 6 months at no co-pay costs to the patients
    • $10 or less co-pay per month of treatment, thereafter**
    • The program provides up to $750 of assistance per patient per month for months 1-12. For patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis who are first starting ENBREL, the program provides up to $1,500 per patient per month for months 1-3. Patient is responsible for costs above these amounts.
    • Financial support is available to patients each time they fill their ENBREL prescription, and participation can be renewed every 12 months.

  • Unemployed (with insurance) -- if a patient loses his or her job and is covered by private insurance, including COBRA, he or she may be eligible to receive up to an additional 6 months of ENBREL at no co-pay cost to him or her*.
  • No insurance -- patients who are uninsured may be referred to the ENcourage Foundation®, a nonprofit foundation supported by Amgen and Wyeth that provides ENBREL at no cost to patients who meet specific eligibility criteria.
  • Insured (but need more financial assistance) -- Patients who are insured (including government insurance, such as Medicare Part D), but need more financial assistance, can be referred to independent foundations that may be able to help with co-pay costs.

* Not open to uninsured patients or patients receiving prescription reimbursement under any federal, state, or government-funded insurance programs (for example, Medicare [including Medicare Part D], Medicaid, etc.) or patients who live in Massachusetts (or where prohibited by law). Restrictions, including monthly maximums, may apply. Offer subject to change or discontinuation without notice.

** Each time the patient fills his or her ENBREL prescription, the patient will receive 50% off his or her co-pay or pay no more than $10 per month—whichever helps the patient more.
