Doping: Unethical, Unfair, UnAmgen

Amgen has a long history of opposing doping in sports and remains committed to combating the inappropriate use of its vital medicines and educating athletes, both amateurs and professionals, of the potential dangers of misusing drugs of any kind.

Amgen's mission is to serve patients and to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines to people fighting serious illness. Our medicines are regulated and should only be used by appropriate patients under the supervision of a physician. Amgen strongly opposes any illicit use of its medicines.

Amgen recently collaborated with the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the global Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in the development of the 2 FIELDS 1 GOAL: Protecting the Integrity of Science and Sport campaign that IFPMA, BIO and WADA announced in July 2012. The campaign aims to facilitate voluntary cooperation between IFPMA and BIO member companies and WADA to identify medicinal compounds with doping potential to minimize misuse of medicines still in development, and facilitate development of detection methods for medicines in athletes.

This virtual press kit provides media with information about Amgen's activities and stance on anti-doping.
