Amgen Supports World Kidney Day on March 12

Are your kidneys okay? World Kidney Day (WKD) sponsors, including Amgen, encourage you to take the quiz to find out.

March 12 is World Kidney Day, a global health awareness campaign organized by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF). WKD activities focus on educating people about the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of chronic kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.

“Amgen is proud to be an official partner of World Kidney Day, supporting screenings and educational activities in countries around the globe to help raise awareness of the serious effects of chronic kidney disease (CKD),” said Preston Klassen, M.D., executive director, Nephrology Global Development.

CKD is a condition defined by kidney damage and impaired kidney function that progresses over time. When the kidneys fail, dialysis or a kidney transplant are the only remaining treatment options. According to the ISN and the IFKF, more than 500 million people worldwide—or about one in 10 adults—have some form of CKD.
