Below are several useful resources for further information about biotechnology and its practitioners.

BioSpace
Synergistic Designs publishes this versatile "hub" site. It fosters a global community of shared interests within the bioscience industry.

Biotechnology Industry Organization
BIO is the leading voice for the biotechnology industry. It represents groups engaged in the development of products and services in the areas of biomedicine, diagnostics, agriculture food, energy, and environmental and industrial applications. These groups include biotechnology companies of all sizes, academic institutions, and state biotechnology centers.

Healthcare Leadership Council
The HLC site contains background on major health reform issues of the day. These include women's health, Medicare reform, FDA reform, medical records confidentiality, and expanding access to healthcare. Users can receive updates on ongoing healthcare legislation, and send e-mail to members of Congress through the site.

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (PhRMA)
PhRMA is a consortium of around 100 U.S. companies with a primary commitment to pharmaceutical research. The site includes information on drugs in development, a consumer health guide, and industry statistics. Specific information on genomics -- including cloning, genetic screening, and sequencing -- can be found on PhRMA's genomics subpage.
