DJSI Recognizes Amgen to Be Among Top Performers in the Biotechnology Industry for a Third Year

For the third year in a row, Amgen has earned placement on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index. The World Index consists of companies representing leading sustainability performance in their industry, and Amgen is one of only four companies in the biotechnology industry to achieve this distinction. Amgen was additionally named to the North America Index for the fourth consecutive year.

Amgen is among 3,400 publicly traded companies invited to take part in the RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which determines DJSI standing. This annual evaluation of companies’ sustainability practices covers a wide range of economic, environmental and social performance, with questions customized to each industry to ensure those issues most relevant to each industry are covered.

“Placement on the DJSI World Index recognizes Amgen’s excellent performance in a wide range of economic, social and environmental areas,” said David Harrison, executive director, Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability, Amgen. “We are particularly proud of our on-going progress in reducing carbon, improving our operating efficiency through Next-Generation Biomanufacturing technologies, and advancing supplier sustainability.”

The Indices are considered to be among the most robust and reliable indicators of a company’s sustainability performance due to the breadth of companies included, and the extensive and rigorous nature of their annual sustainability assessment.

Earlier in the year, Amgen placed among the top 100 companies in the world for environmental and sustainability performance in the Newsweek Green Rankings.
