American Heart Association, 2019 Workplace Health Achievement Recognition

Amgen was recently rated as one of the leading companies in the U.S. for workplace health and wellness in the 2019 Workplace Health Achievement Index from the American Heart Association (AHA). Of the more than 900 organizations that completed this year’s assessment, 27% received a gold rating by scoring at least 175 points on the index. Amgen’s score of 209 out of 217 points puts it among the highest ranked companies on the index.

Amgen believes that giving employees the resources and benefits to prioritize their own well-being helps ensure the company can honor its mission to serve patients with serious and life-threating medical needs. The company’s wellness offerings in the U.S. include onsite and virtual fitness and well-being programs, nutrition consultation services, health-conscious choices from its on-site cafés, and staff recognition for active wellness and well-being participation.

The well-being of our staff is of the utmost importance to us as they work to improve the lives of patients. We are committed to providing a portfolio of competitive wellness benefits to ensure they have the ability to properly care for themselves and their families.
--Lori Johnston, Executive Vice President, Human Resources

The AHA defined best practices for employers to build a culture of health for their employees in the workplace. The AHA Workplace Health Achievement Index measures the extent to which the company has implemented those workplace health best practices.

Amgen is proud to have met American Heart Association criteria for Gold recognition in the AHA’s Workplace Health Achievement Index. See heart.org/workplacehealth for more information.
