For the fourth year in a row, Amgen has earned placement on the highly selective Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index. Amgen was additionally named to the North America Index for the fifth consecutive year.
Launched in 1999, the DJSI are the world’s first and most respected indices measuring environmental, social and governance criteria with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. The World Index consists of companies representing leading sustainability performance in their industry.
Amgen was among 3,400 publicly traded companies invited to take part in the RobeccoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which determines DJSI standing. The annual sustainability evaluation covers a wide range of performance assessments, and this year two new criteria were added: human rights and policy influence.
“Placement on the DJSI World Index recognizes Amgen’s excellent sustainability performance,” said David Harrison, executive director, Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability at Amgen. “We are particularly proud of our ongoing progress in reducing carbon, improving our operating efficiency through next-generation biomanufacturing technologies, and advancing supplier sustainability.”
