Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Advertising

Amgen's mission is to serve patients, and that includes providing them with accurate information about diseases and medicines. Where appropriate, DTC advertising is part of Amgen's patient education efforts.

Amgen has voluntarily adopted the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Guiding Principles on Direct-to-Consumer Advertisements about Prescription Medicines. Consistent with PhRMA DTC Advertising Principles, list prices of products with DTC television advertising are posted on our consumer product websites to help patients make more informed decisions about their health care.

Responsible DTC advertising can play a role in increasing awareness about diseases, educating patients about treatment options, and fostering dialogue between patients and their healthcare providers. We have a responsibility to consider and evaluate on an ongoing basis the most appropriate settings for where and when we employ DTC advertising as an avenue to reach patients.

Amgen also recognizes that patients and consumers can benefit from greater transparency and education about access to medicines, including the potential costs and resources that may help patients with the cost of their medicine. Amgen supports a proactive, consumer-oriented approach focused on providing information about a medicine's price, including potential out-of-pocket costs, and Amgen-sponsored financial assistance that might be available.

Note: The list price does not reflect rebates or discounts. The price paid by healthcare providers and patients may be higher or lower than the price listed.
