Amgen Ranks 26th on Wall Street Journal’s List of Best-Managed Companies

Legendary management guru Peter Drucker had a simple way of describing a company’s effectiveness: “Doing the right things well.”

According to The Wall Street Journal’s annual list of best-managed companies – compiled in partnership with the Drucker Institute – Amgen appears to be doing the right things well. Amgen ranked #26 on this year’s list – up from #43 last year. Microsoft was the #1 company on the list.

The ranking analyzes the 250 largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. and how they perform on five dimensions: customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility and financial strength.

Amgen has made steady progress in the four years that the Journal has been publishing this ranking, placing 60^th in 2017, 47^th in 2018, 43^rd in 2019 and now 26^th.

Our strong ranking caps a year when Amgen appeared on numerous other “best” lists, including:

• The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World Index and North America Index
• The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality”
